Founded in 2009, the Pascua Yaqui Bar Association has set out to establish a tradition of service to the legal profession and the greater Pascua Yaqui community, bringing lawyers together to join in a strong organization that works to achieve objectives that transcend the individual. On December 2, 2015 the Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council repealed a portion of the Tribe’s old Election Code and adopted new Elections Code provisions which can be found in Title 2, Part VI, Chapter 6-2.

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s justice system was recently featured in a Washington Post article.
The Pascua Yaqui, along with two other tribes chosen by the Justice Department for a pilot project allowing the prosecution of non-tribal men who are accused of committing acts of domestic violence on the reservation, received the go-ahead to begin enforcing a new federal law a year ahead of the country’s other 563 tribes.

4 PYTC 2 Sex Offenses
On October 9, 2013 the Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council amended the Sex Offender Notitication and Registration provisions of the Pascua Yaqui Code. The new provisions require sex offenders to register according to a new 3 tiered system set forth in the amended code provisions.
