Welcome to the Pascua Yaqui Bar Association

Founded in 2009, the Pascua Yaqui Bar Association has set out to establish a tradition of service to the legal profession and the greater Pascua Yaqui community, bringing lawyers together to join in a strong organization that works to achieve objectives that transcend the individual. The PYBA looks forward to providing programs and services designed to improve our local judicial system, foster & enhance the quality of legal services in our community, and provide educational and professional programs for our members. TRIBAL COURT HOLIDAY HOURS OF OPERATION:

Thursday, December 22, 2016 – Court Offices will be closed from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Friday, December 23, 2016 – Court Offices will be closed from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Monday, December 26, 2015 – Court Offices will be closed ALL DAY.
Monday, January 2, 2017 – Court Offices will be closed ALL DAY.

Tribal Court Certification Course

The next “live” certification class will be offered on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the Tribal Court building. The fee for the class is $50.00. Please contact the court clerk’s office for registration materials and payment information. (520) 879-6276.

If you are unable to sit for the January certification, the next course will be held on April 27th, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.

If you are recertifying, please contact the Tribal Court Administrative Attorney Ben Casey to find out about online recertification. (520) 879-6288.

Pascua Yaqui Election Code Amended

On December 2, 2015 the Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council repealed a portion of the Tribe’s old Election Code and adopted new Elections Code provisions which can be found in Title 2, Part VI, Chapter 6-2.

Pascua Yaqui Tribe set to prosecute first non-Indian under a new law

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s justice system was recently featured in a Washington Post article.    

The Pascua Yaqui, along with two other tribes chosen by the Justice Department for a pilot project allowing the prosecution of non-tribal men who are accused of committing acts of domestic violence on the reservation, received the go-ahead to begin enforcing a new federal law a year ahead of the country’s other 563 tribes.
